COSTS TO BE ANTICIPATED AS A BUYER:
Conveyance of title through a lawyer or notary public (typical cost $800 - $1500).
Standard survey, if required (typical cost $500 - $1500). (Detailed surveys are more expensive.)
Home insurance (premiums vary consult your insurance broker).
Property Transfer Tax (PTT) is payable to the Land Title and Survey Authority of BC by way of a cheque made payable to the Minister of Finance (1% of the first $200,000 of purchase price and 2% of the balance of the purchase price).
GST of 5% is payable on new construction or land that has never been sold before. This is a one time tax.
